Gift Up! Promotion

“Gift Up” Promotion Doubles the Dollar for Cambridge Businesses During May
The Cambridge Economic Development Board (ED) and Chamber of Commerce are excited to announce that during the month of May, businesses who use the “Gift Up!” app and website for online gift card purchases will be doubling their dollar! Starting May 1, any gift card that is purchased at a participating business will be matched equally by ED*, and the Chamber will pick up all of the service charges associated with online gift card purchases.

Gift cards provide a variety of benefits for businesses, ranging from increased revenue to greater customer loyalty. They offer a way for customers to shop for services they already get from the business but are unable to during this time of “social distancing.”

“We believe in the importance of shopping local and supporting our local businesses during times such as these,” said Jodi Cobb, Chamber president. “And, did you know gift cards are one of the most popular and requested presents for people of all ages? This promotion just made sense.”

Businesses don’t pay a cent until they sell a gift card, and when they do, they immediately receive 100 percent of the gift card revenue in full. ED will match funds up to $50,000 with a limit of $3,000 per business, so be sure to shop them all!

“Because the current business climate is changing and online marketing has proven to be effective, we felt this was a good way to get our businesses set up for future success,” said Tom Shoemaker, ED Board president. “Not only will this help generate lost revenue during the Covid-19 pandemic, but it allows businesses to be prepared well in advance of the holiday shopping season.”

Patrons can find a list of participating businesses and their Gift Up! websites here: http://cambridgene.org/chamber.

*This promotion is exclusive to Chamber members only. ED matching funds will only go to Cambridge businesses. For participating Chamber members outside of Cambridge, the Chamber will reimburse administrative costs.
